At New American Economy, my responsibilities have been plentiful and have included all of the following:

  • Performed a key role in planning and producing the inaugural New American Festival, and co-produced six nationwide satellite events in Boston, Oakland, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, and Detroit.
  • Created and curate The Lit Club by NAE, a book club and resource shedding light on the immigrant experience in its many forms.
  • Launched the entirely virtual New American Holiday Festival, highlighting immigrant entrepreneurs from across the country. I also secured coverage in Refinery29 and on Instagram’s @shop feed.
  • Co-produce virtual events and fundraisers during the COVID-19 pandemic, including comedy shows and panels, cooking demos, and Q&As with movie directors and immigrant authors.
  • Planned co-sponsored events at SXSW and Believer Festival with nationally acclaimed immigrant talent.
  • Liaise and communicate with team members, outside partners, and contractors to ensure the most efficiently executed campaigns, projects, and deliverables.
  • Forge and develop new and existing partnerships with like-minded organizations around the country to collaborate on events, video projects, and additional content and programming.
  • Coordinate creation of video projects, including shaping film concepts, finding and vetting interview subjects, and annotating transcripts.
  • Create and execute social media strategies for New American Economy’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram around company research, events, and communications releases.

As an avid reader and fan of literature, I was thinking of ways to combine my love for reading with New American Economy's work in immigration. What I came up with was The Lit Club by NAE, a public and international book club as well as a living resource with book recommendations across four categories: fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, and children's books. The goal is to introduce participants to a new and wide range of immigrant stories, exploring the variety of lived experiences.

Each month, I personally choose either a new release or a previously released book that has resonated with me as the "Lit Club Special Selection," and then plan and execute a book club discussion with the author of our special selection, moderated by critically acclaimed Vietnamese refugee author Phuc Tran.

If you're ever interested in attending one of our monthly events or joining the book club, the most updated information can be found at our website here.

For the inaugural New American Festival, I assumed the role of a co-producer in the lead-up to the two-day festival as well as during the event, ensuring each activation went smoothly and rapidly addressing all issues which arose throughout the weekend.

In the weeks prior to the event, I was tasked with marketing and promotion, communicating with talent, helping to secure travel and lodging to the event, executing contracts, managing ticket sales and lists, and ensuring event set-up went smoothly. At the event, I ensured the smooth execution of each breakout event and activation, as well as catering special experiences to our VIPs, including donors, C Suite executives from NYC, influencers, and the press. Below, please find a sizzle from the event.
